Draft. This was written by the site’s developer from what the site actually does. It hasn’t been checked by a lawyer, and the highlighted parts still need deciding.
What Ciname stores about you, and what it doesn’t. Last updated 18 September 2026.
Ciname is a personal media-tracking site run by one person. It is not a company.
Questions about your data go to support@ciname.com.
Only what the site needs to work:
Your shelf has a visibility setting — public, friends only, or private. "Public" means other approved members of this site, never the open internet. You can change it at any time in Settings.
The owner can see your account and, as the person running the database, has technical access to what it holds.
To fetch cover art, descriptions and release dates, the site asks these services about titles. It does not tell them who you are:
One cookie, which keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. If you untick "Keep me signed in", it lasts only until you close your browser.
Until you delete your account. Settings → Data & account → Delete account removes your profile and everything you tracked.
Backups are kept for TO FILL IN — how long you keep backups, e.g. 30 days, and deleted data can persist in them until they age out.
You can download everything the site holds about you at any time: Settings → Data & account → Export. You can correct anything in Settings, and you can delete your account yourself.
To ask for anything else, write to support@ciname.com.
You must be at least TO FILL IN — the minimum age you settle on years old to use Ciname. Accounts found to belong to someone younger will be removed.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the site will say so. The date at the top is when it last changed.
